Land Rover Gear Team

Land Rover Gear Team in action!

The core focus of the LAND ROVER GEAR / USN RACE TEAM is to present the individual, the team and the sponsors to the selected target public in a manner that embraces professionalism, determination, dedication and, at all times, to illustrate why that athlete has been selected as a racer.

The LAND ROVER GEAR / USN RACE TEAM is not about having a large group of athletes that are racing at various levels, but rather a select few who are racing to win. It is a quality versus quantity offering. LAND ROVER GEAR has a “Best of Breed” business philosophy working with those companies and individuals who are the best in their industry and as a result joined forces with USN (Ultimate Sports Nutrition) IN 2007 to form this formidable team. This “Best of Breed” philosophy has also carried through to the selection of the athletes of the LAND ROVER GEAR / USN RACE TEAM. The selection of the athletes has been based on ability along with the character and integrity of the individual.

The LAND ROVER GEAR / USN RACE TEAM, or the “Amadotti” as they have been affectionately nick named because of the dotted design on their racing kit, consists of 14 athletes including the 2 actively competing team managers. 6 athletes are full time salaried professionals including the team trainer/nutritionalist, and the rest are fully supported in their by the team and sponsors. The team management is based in KZN with athletes across the country, and currently the team is supported by a fleet of 5 team vehicles nationally.

The Land Rover Gear Team

Martin Dryer

Martin Dryer

Somewhat of a legend in extreme sports, Martin has been dubbed the "Dusi Duke." Having dominated the Dusi podium in recent years, he is undoubtedly a legend within the paddling community. Martin is also the reigning Land Rover G4 Challenge winner, beating off a field of the best extreme athletes in the world to claim the title in 2006. And with his plethora of accolades still maintains a quiet humility.

Abbey Miedema

Abbey Miedema

The undisputable Dusi Queen, Abbey has again showed her pedigree in 2007 by winning the Dusi and the non stop Dusi title and claimed the South African title in both the K1 and K2 categories. Abbey blows most men off her tracks whilst lugging a canoe over her shoulder. With her eye wandering to the multisport arena, a warning bell goes out to all her opposition

Iain Don-Wauchope

Iain Don-Wauchope

Iain definitely wedged his way to the front of the talent queue when multi sport ability was being dished out. His World Championship Duathlon title in 2004 often gets lost amongst the abundance of podiums across all disciplines he competes in. Even his ‘drowning otto’ swimming style can’t keep him from the front and from continually pulling in wins.

Jeannie Bomford

Jeannie Bomford

“The Bom” outraces most men at multi sport events. With a solid running and mountain biking pedigree, Jeannie has developed her other disciplines to become the undisputed top multi sport competitor in the country. Multiple race winner Jeannie is also the anchor lady in the team’s adventure racing contingent.

Russell White

Russell White

The old man of the team makes those, sometimes half his age, cringe at the start line. Undisputed top Master, Russell is now team nutritionalist and trainer. He is also responsible, through his nutritional diligence, to be the only man to make it possible for an apple to act like a banned substance.

Dylan Victor

Dylan Victor

Included not so much for his winning podiums as for ramping and back flipping off them. Dylan is South Africa’s premier trials rider and his trick show, involving continually bouncing off his Land Rover, wows crowds all over the country. An inspiration to all of us wishing we could “do that with a mountain bike.” And he races mountain bikes like a machine too.

Tyronne White

Tyronne White

With a genetic advantage over most (he’s Russell’s son), Ty is a single track mountain bike specialist and multi talented multisporter. Technical superiority over short distances his forte, Ty is difficult to touch on single track, and he’s not too shabby when is comes to running. A knee injury sees Ty focusing his efforts on mountain biking.

Guy Schroeder

Guy Schroeder

Not only has Guy represented South Africa in multiple sports but he manages to run a business and compete and race as a top level vet. Guy is as valuable to the team as a sounding board and confidant as he is a professional athlete. With mountain biking as his forte, Guy is set to dominate his age group for years to come.

Johan Reneke

Johan Reneke

The current World Deaf Long Course mountain bike champion, Johan is developing into one of our country’s premier mountain bikers. As his confidence and skills develop so do his podium positions and Johan’s commitment to the team is unshakable.

Charl Keet

Probably the country’s top young up and coming triathlete (14th overall in Ironman, 2007) Charl’s quiet demeanour and gentle nature is deceiving a fact that will be borne out by those who try to hold his wake or slipstream him on the bike. The eternal good sport, Charl is a hugely popular athlete.

Mark Foster

Mark Foster

Bike mechanic , extraordinaire Mr. Nice Guy and top level sub vet mountain biker turns into a demon when single track appears, generally opting for his own ‘path of least resistance.’ Never mind his technical value to the team, Mark embodies the spirit of the team.

Tina Dominic

Tina Dominic

US Collegiate Cross Country Champion, & 3rd Elite Woman at SA Mountain Bike Champs in 2007, Tina is growing into a force to be reckoned with. With her global experience and American heritage Tina is exploring new and exciting boundaries in Africa.

Terry Flack

Terry Flack

Not sharing the racing pedigree of his team mates, Terry’s skill is the business side of the team. Having raced in a sponsored triathlon team during school days with Chester, his days are spent behind his laptop managing the team, dreaming about being on his mountain bike.

Chester Foster

Chester Foster

Adventurer racer extraordinaire, Chester has done it all including multiple provincial colours in various sports. His heyday included representing South Africa for the Land Rover G4 Challenge, with a global ranking of number 1. As the licensee for Land Rover Gear, Chester spends his time in the office, but still finds time to pursue the sports he so loves.
