Boosted Energy by USN
Beginning
Running is an everyday and all year round lifestyle that I truly love. I’ve been running since school in 1996 as a social runner. I use to run about 40min on a daily basis as part of my everyday life style. In 2005 I’ve decided to take it up more seriously by joining a club and training with a personal coach. I wanted to see what I am capable to achieve if I put more into it. I started running competitive ever since and striving to improve my personal best times by pushing myself a bit further. “Take the burn, pushing harder to cross the finish line first…”
I had the fortunate opportunity to represent western province on two occasions through hard work and dedication to a training schedule set out by my coach.
It is a great reward to have the support of my sponsors, USN and ADIDAS; it also motivates me to achieve my goals by working harder.
For me running is freedom! Once my feet hit the ground, I am able to completely switch off from the “world” and free myself from a hard day at the office. Running enables me to recharge my body, mind and soul. It fills my mind with fresh ideas.
I am very passionate about running. It makes me feel unstoppable. There is nothing like the feel-good moment after a great run!
“Running is creative….It releases feelings of beauty and power latent within us all – Sir Roger Bannister”
Motto: Train hard, race hard, win proud.
Main Inspiration
My family is very important to me. I enjoy spending time with them. We have a close bond and I value their input and support.
Training Schedule
My training is serious, intense and goal driven. I train with a team and our coach, Cecil Roffey, is one of the world’s best! Our training is made up of about 60km’s a week, where 32km’s is speed work and the rest is distance. We train 6 weeks in advance for a specific race and we choose between 8 – 15 races a year.
I’m passionate about running. I follow a rigorous training schedule especially when I’m preparing for a race. I believe in healthy eating and good nutrition.
USN Supplements used:
I use USN
Endurosport
a few days before a race. It helps me with my endurance and performance, especially when doing a 21km. It boosts my energy levels and enables me to finish strong!
I also use
CytoPower
during a race. For a 10km race, I take one gel 15 minutes before the race and another gel at 6kms. For a 21km race, I take one gel at 3kms, and a second gel at 10kms. This ensures that my body doesn’t run on its own natural energy, but on extra energy, which results in higher performance!
Besides the Energy boosters, I also use a USN
MultiPlex
on a daily basis to ensure I get all the necessary nutrition. With this kind of training, it is very important to ensure I get all the nutrition my body needs.
After a hard race, I use the USN recovery drink, Recover Max. It is as good as a day’s rest for my body!
The USN products are very effective. I can honestly say that they have helped me to improve my running performances.

Future Goals
My main goal is to look and feel fantastic when I’m older. I believe if you feel good about yourself, you will be confident and you will succeed in everything you undertake.
I am a very focused and goal driven person who enjoys challenges. Once I tackle something I always ensure that I see it through till the end. I strive to maintain a positive mindset at all times. I love life and I acknowledge and enjoy the beautiful things in life, such as beautiful clothes, art and décor.
My motto in life: If your dream doesn’t scare you, it’s not big enough!
My interests are running, painting and trying out new recipes. For me running is freedom! Once my feet hit the ground, I am able to completely switch off from the “world” and free myself from a hard day at the office. Running enables me to recharge my body, mind and soul. It fills my mind with fresh ideas.
