I have cycled and run most of my life, both for recreation and in competition. It was in 2004 that I decided to take things more seriously. I trained for and competed in the Snowdonia Marathon, my first marathon and one of the toughest in Europe. The following year I completed the Etape Du Tour from Mourenx - Pau in the French Pyrenees (113 miles, 4 mountain passes). Over the following years I competed in mountain marathons, mountain biking and running events until I eventually tried my hand at triathlon.
In 2009 I competed for the Great Britain Age Group team in the European Xterra Triathlon Championships in Sardinia and was included on the team for the Sprint Distance World Triathlon Championships in Australia.
In 2010 I concentrated on Xterra Triathlons and finished 9th in the European Tour and qualified for the World Championships in Maui.
For 2011 I will again compete in more Xterra races, but also the ITU Cross Triathlon World Championships in Spain. Combine this with UK based triathlon, Mountain Biking and Running events and its going to be a busy year!
I have also pre qualified for the London Marathon in April with a ‘Good for age place’ and my intention is to go sub 3 hours this year.
I also want to do my first long distance triathlon in the form of a Half Ironman 70.3 - 1.2m swim, 56m bike, 13.1m run.
