The triathlon year is divided into progressive phases, beginning with Prep, Base, Build, Peak, Race season followed by much needed Rest! At the start of the year my coach and I decide upon the major races to focus upon (qualification races and World Championships), thereafter other races are carefully selected to prepare for the peak race/s. Typically I train between 8–20 hours per week, dependent upon the training phase.

What is your favourite USN Supplement and why?
I am very analytical in my approach to triathlon, as such this applies to the sports nutrition I use to optimise performance. Since using USN I can wholeheartedly advocate
Cytopower (Grape or Orange flavour) as this provides the necessary ingredients for hard training sessions (long bike rides and hour-plus swim sessions in the pool) and during Ironman events. In particular, it provides good quantities of carbohydrates and sugars to maintain energy levels, in addition it contains high levels of electrolytes and phosphate important for lactate buffering. Consequently, I have discovered this sports drink prolongs optimal performance.
Achievements in sports since taking the product?
As said, I am methodical and precise in my preparation for training and competing in Ironman events. When competing in Ironman UK (pre USN sponsorship/Ambassador) I reached 2/3rds into the run and suffered with severe cramp, to the extent where I missed out on a World Championship Slot by 40sec, without a doubt the cramp prevented this opportunity. It was time for some drastic measures! Thankfully, I then became a USN Ambassador and have been using the products post IM UK and in the build-up to IM Wales. With a six week turnaround it was important to recover and replenish stores while adjusting to new products to be implemented when racing in IM Wales. Please see the next question for the ideal training, pre-race and race USN supplement plan.
The result of this plan improved my performance immensely, to the extent where I had consistent energy levels, experienced no cramping and no stomach discomfort. The result at IM UK was 10th and at IM Wales 7th overall, the latter being a significantly tougher course and more competitive field of women, all competitors can testify to that! Given that the women above me are professionals and I have a full-time job, this performance in my IM debut year proves that next season promises to be a very interesting and optimistic one. USN has created that. It’s all about the results!
What is your ideal product stack when training? Why and what benefits does this have?
DURING TRAINING, PRE & POST RACES:
ENDURO SPORT – I use this product 3 days prior to all races, providing the essential carbohydrate, electrolyte and phosphate loading.
CYTO POWER – During long/hard training sessions and during races. This has it all – rapid electrolyte, energy and amino acid replacement.
CRAMP BLOCKS – Taken 3 days prior to all races and during the race, helps prevent cramp and muscle fatigue.
RECOVERY:
PURE PROTEIN IGF-1- Post workout and race. Low carbs and replaces necessary amino acids, repairing muscle damage and allowing you to recover for the next sessions. My favourite flavours – Cappuccino and Chocolate.
PURE PROTEIN BAR – Post workout and race. Containing protein and carbs, and more substantial than a protein shake. This is also good when riding those long miles. My favourite flavours are Berry and White Chocolate & Strawberry. Absolutely delicious.
GENERAL HEALTH MAINTENANCE (taken daily):
All these products supplement a healthy and consistent diet. To reiterate, following much personal research the above products genuinely work for me, however others may wish to mix and match these quality products.
