We’ve heard it all before – got a headache? Drink more water. Want to lose weight? Drink more water. Hungry? Water. This was drilled into us by our parents when we were hitting that dreaded stage of development and our skin did whatever it wanted. Had a breakout? It’s because you’re not drinking enough water etc ect. These statements used to drive us insane, right? Well, we’re here to tell you some of the other main benefits of drinking water – and enough of it at that! Drinking water helps maintain the balance of body fluids

Our bodies are composed of about 60% water – this water helps the following bodily fluids function, such as digestion, creation of saliva, transportation of nutrients, absorption, and maintenance of body temperature. When your body is low on fluids, your brain triggers your thirst mechanism – always listen to your body and drink water when you need it!

Water helps control calories

Substituting water for a higher calorie beverage will of course help you to lose weight. Also aim for foods with high water content as they will be absorbed by your body much slower; meaning that you will feel full for longer. Some examples of water-rich foods include fruits, veggies, broth-based soups, oatmeal and beans.

Keeps your skin glowing

When you’re dehydrated your skin looks more dry and wrinkled – this can be improved with proper hydration! Be sure that you are drinking enough water throughout the day by using a large water bottle – such as one of ours here at USN!
